The most recent proof for ANG consistent high level performance in the M&A sector was the selection of the firm to assist Veolia Water in the successful acquisition of the United Utilities’ European non-regulated assets, including the controlling interest in Sofiyska Voda AD, the concessionaire of the Sofia water and waste sewerage system. In the course of the acquisition ANG lawyers took active role in the due diligence process and advised Veolia on a wide range of sophisticated issues in the areas of corporate law, concessions and PPP, competition etc.
ANG continues to provide comprehensive support to Veolia in view of the expected completion of the acquisition.
In 2009 and 2010 ANG further expanded its practice in the field of litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) matters.
The firm was a legal consultant in an international arbitration case before the International Court of Arbitration with the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris related to an unfulfilled concession award.

In the beginning of 2009 on behalf of Swissport Bulgaria AD, ANG initiated proceedings before the Commission on Protection of Competition against the State operator for abuse of dominant position. The Commission found that the State operator is in breached of the competition legislation and as a result the respondent undertook appropriate commitments for termination of its illegal behaviour.
In addition to the above procedure, on behalf of Swissport Bulgaria AD, ANG approached the European Commission on the grounds that the State operator denied access to the market of ground handling services in contradiction with the EC competition law. As a result at the end of 2009 the European Commission commenced an infringement procedure against the Republic of Bulgaria.
In 2010 the ANG team advised the Ministry of Environment and Water, in co-operation with the international consulting company NIRAS, on the drafting of the Bulgarian regulations for implementation of projects under the Track 1 procedure of the Joint Implementation mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol.
